La Guerrilla Marika

La Guerrilla Marika is a street performance troupe led by artist César Cisternas, composed of multiple dissident bodies that use art as a tool for visibility, resistance, and memory. Born in 2020 from the sex-disident interventions during Chile’s October 2019 Uprising, the troupe takes over public space with pride, agitation, and collective strength. Formed by fearless queer and trans bodies, La Guerrilla Marika turns systemic violence into festive resistance: music, dance, glitter, rage, and tenderness. Each street intervention becomes a poetic and political act that challenges heteronormativity and builds community through difference. Their performances transform the public sphere into a living dissident body, an alchemy of protest, ritual, and joy that reclaims the streets as spaces of freedom and queer presence.
