Seba Calfuqueo
Seba Calfuqueo Aliste (Santiago, Chile, 1991) is a Mapuche visual artist whose practice integrates performance, video, ceramics, and installation. With a BA and MA in Visual Arts from the University of Chile, Calfuqueo explores Mapuche identity, colonial legacy, feminism, and sexual dissidence through a contemporary lens.
Their work has been exhibited at Patricia Ready Gallery, Galería Metropolitana, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago, and the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts. Calfuqueo has participated in the 34th São Paulo Biennial, the 12th Mercosur Biennial, the 22nd Paiz Biennial in Guatemala, and Mexico City's Art Week 2024.
A member of the feminist Mapuche collective Rangiñtulewfü, Calfuqueo is also curator at Espacio218 in Santiago. Their works are held in major collections, including the Centre Pompidou, Denver Art Museum, MALBA, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, KADIST Collection, and Brazil's MAC RS.
