Constanza Urrutia
Constanza (Santiago, Chile, 1979) is a textile artist and designer. She holds a degree in Textile Art and a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Chile. Her work is characterized by the use of large textile surfaces as supports for memory. Through meticulous manual actions and repetitive processes, her works trace the passage of time and reactivate histories linked to traditional textile practices, reinterpreted through contemporary perspectives.
Since 2007 she has taught at the Central Textile Art Workshop within the Visual Arts program at the University of Chile, and since 2019 she has been a faculty member at the same institution.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions, including London Craft Week (2020), the Biennale Internationale Métiers d’Art & Création – Révélations at the Grand Palais in Paris (2017), the 15th International Triennial of Tapestry at the Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz, Poland (2016), and the 9th International Shibori Symposium at the China National Silk Museum in Hangzhou (2014). In Chile, she has exhibited at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, MAC Quinta Normal, Centro de Extensión UC, and Galería D21, among others.
