Adrían Alemán

Adrián Alemán (b. 1963, Tenerife) is a contemporary artist, researcher, and professor at the University of La Laguna. His work explores coloniality, visual culture, and memory, creating texts, photographs, drawings, and installations that challenge traditional narratives. Rooted in a peripheral context, Alemán views contemporary art as an autonomous space for research and emancipation. His projects, such as SOCIUS, Dialécticas criollas, and Doble ciego (2024), address history, language, and power, confronting subaltern subjectivities and the colonial gaze.
