Iván Zambrano
Chilean visual artist and educator trained as a State Teacher and Bachelor in Art Education at the University of La Serena (U.L.S.). Between 1989 and 1992 he pursued studies in Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he later completed a postgraduate specialization in Visual Arts with a focus on Contemporary Techniques in 2000.
His artistic practice is primarily centered on contemporary painting, exploring pictorial processes, material experimentation and visual reflections related to perception, landscape and the cultural experience of territory. Throughout his career he has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows both in Chile and internationally.
He has received several distinctions and grants, including the Amigos del Arte Scholarship (1995), First Prize in the “El Color del Sur” Competition in Puerto Varas (1996), and FONDART Awards in 1997 and 1999. Alongside his artistic practice, he has developed an important academic career at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he teaches painting, leads studio groups and coordinates creative workshops within the School of Art.
