Sub-Cooperativa de Fotógrafos
Sub is a photographers’ cooperative founded in Buenos Aires in 2004, dedicated to documentary photography and visual storytelling projects across Latin America. The collective is composed of Gisela Volá, Nicolás Pousthomis, Gerónimo Molina and Verónica Borsani in Buenos Aires, and Olmo Calvo Rodríguez in Madrid. Their work focuses on building a collective identity while conducting photographic research on social, political and cultural processes throughout the region.
Through collaborative projects, Sub explores new ways of narrating reality by combining photography, journalistic investigation and editorial production. The collective operates as an interdisciplinary platform where photographers, designers, journalists, writers and historians collaborate, enriching the visual narratives they develop.
Their work has been published in international media outlets such as The New York Times, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Gatopardo and Rolling Stone, among many others. Through Sub Editora, the collective has published the books Diciembre (2016) and Qapaq Ñan (2017), the former declared of social interest by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires.
