Boris Ordóñez
Boris Ordóñez Petroff (Cuenca, Ecuador, 1963) is a visual artist whose work is characterized by a strong social and humanistic dimension. He began his artistic career at the age of nineteen, presenting his first exhibition in 1983. Since then, he has developed a sustained practice centered on painting as a means of reflecting on the human condition and the relationships between individuals. His work seeks to engage the viewer critically, conceiving art not only as an aesthetic experience but also as a tool for awareness and dialogue.
Throughout his career, he has held more than twenty solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Ecuador and abroad. His work has been presented in institutions such as the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana (Azuay branch), the Museo del Banco Central in Cuenca and Loja, and the Museo Luis A. Noboa in Guayaquil, as well as galleries and cultural centers in cities including New York, Berlin, Regensburg and Tilburg. He has also participated in international events and salons such as the Monroe Arts Festival in Michigan (USA) and the International Painting Biennial of Cuenca.
His practice goes beyond purely visual pleasure, proposing a symbolic and reflective painting that seeks to awaken the viewer’s sensitivity and social awareness.
