Danny Narváez
Danny Narváez (Machala, Ecuador, 1985) is an Ecuadorian visual artist and holds a Master’s degree in Art Studies from the University of Cuenca (2019). His artistic practice focuses on painting and material experimentation, notably through the development of “Plásdil,” a technique based on the reuse of recycled plastic applied to contemporary painting. Through this approach, Narváez explores the intersection of art, sustainability and material research, transforming discarded plastic into textured pictorial surfaces that address social and environmental concerns.
He has presented solo exhibitions in Machala (2019) and Guayaquil (2020), the latter supported by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador. His work has received several national and international recognitions, including the Salón de Julio (2012), the National Painting Salon “Eduardo Kingman Riofrío” (2012), the International “Huaylá” Award for Visual Arts (2019), the Acquisition Prize in Cañar Province (2019) and the National “Magdalena Dávalos” Prize in Riobamba (2021).
Narváez has participated in exhibitions and biennials such as AQ Arte Feria Quito, the 20th Santa Cruz de la Sierra Biennial of Visual Arts (Bolivia), and the Bienal Nómade at the MAAC Museum in Guayaquil. His work is included in publications such as Mapas del Arte Contemporáneo en Ecuador and Signos (University of Cuenca).
