Danilo Espinoza
Danilo Espinoza Guerra is a Chilean visual artist and academic based in Santiago. He is a professor at the School of Art at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). His artistic practice focuses on drawing, image-making and artistic research as tools to explore memory, archives and the relationships between contemporary art, territory and identity.
His work examines processes of absence, disappearance and the reconstruction of memory, often engaging with Chile’s recent history and Mapuche cosmovision. Through drawing series, installations and research-based visual projects, Espinoza Guerra investigates how images can activate cultural, political and emotional narratives connected to territory and community.
He has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions across Latin America, the United States and Europe, including at institutions such as the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, MAVI-UC Museum of Visual Arts, Nahim Isaías Museum in Guayaquil and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Valdivia. His practice integrates artistic production, research and teaching within the field of Latin American contemporary art.
