David Celi

David Celi (Quito, Ecuador, 1976) is an Ecuadorian visual artist active in contemporary art since 2004. His artistic practice explores philosophical questions related to interstitial spaces between physical, psychological and symbolic dimensions, investigating territories connected to the subconscious, perception and human experience. In his early work, Celi focused on spatial interventions, installations and site-specific projects in which architectural and urban contexts became integral parts of the artwork, creating immersive environments that actively engage the viewer. Over time, his practice has expanded into broader material experimentation, incorporating different media and formats ranging from painting to contemporary installation. The conceptual core of his work revolves around the relationship between human beings, the city and society, addressing the tensions between space, memory and collective experience. He has received awards and honorable mentions in several art competitions in Ecuador and has been invited to participate in exhibitions, festivals and artistic projects both nationally and internationally.
