Irene Cazar
Irene Cazar (Quito, Ecuador, 1978) is an Ecuadorian visual artist whose practice focuses on contemporary painting and the exploration of memory, childhood and urban experience. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Central University of Ecuador, a Master’s degree in Painting from the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (Germany), and a Diploma in Art Education from the Complutense University of Madrid.
Her pictorial work is characterized by a sensitive and narrative visual language that blends figurative elements with symbolic atmospheres, where personal memories, emotions and urban landscapes intersect with imagination. Through painting, Cazar creates scenes that evoke nostalgia, identity and an intimate perception of everyday environments.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Ecuador, Germany, Spain, the United States, Canada and the Netherlands. Notable exhibitions include La ciudad y yo (Sara Palacios Gallery, Quito), Añorando mi infancia (Alliance Française of Quito and UNAM Ottawa), and Re-tratando (Sara Palacios Gallery). Her work has also been exhibited at institutions such as the National Museum of Ecuador and the Nahim Isaías Museum. She also directs Bluu Art Workshop, dedicated to children’s art education.
