Olmedo Alvarado

Olmedo Alvarado is a prominent multidisciplinary artist from Cuenca, Ecuador. His work spans installations, performance, relational art, urban interventions, video art, sculpture, painting, drawing, and printmaking. He has participated in over 100 solo and group exhibitions in Ecuador and countries such as Canada, the USA, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain, and Poland. With a strong academic background, he has served as a university professor and held leadership roles at the University of Cuenca, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Director of the School of Visual Arts. He was also a board member of the Cuenca International Biennial. Alvarado’s practice explores social, political, and symbolic dimensions through diverse artistic media, establishing him as a leading figure in contemporary Ecuadorian art.
