Roberto Plate

Roberto Plate (Buenos Aires, 1940) is a renowned Argentine painter and stage designer with an international career. He studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Munich on a scholarship (1963–1966) and has lived in Paris since the 1970s. His work explores the intersections of art, politics, and public space. His installation Public Bathrooms (1968) at the Instituto Di Tella was shut down after visitors covered its walls with graffiti, becoming a landmark in Latin American art history.
