Gustavo Ávila
Gustavo Ávila González (San Antonio, 1967) is a Chilean architect and visual artist. A graduate and faculty member of the Universidad de Valparaíso, his abstract painting practice emerges from sketching and explores the concept of “place” as a field of encounters. He has exhibited widely in Chile and is the driving force behind the ArtePuerto collective projects since 2023. His artistic journey includes sculpture, ephemeral installations, and independent editorial work. Ávila’s work reflects on time, memory, and meaning, presenting images as ethical witnesses to the ephemeral, and as spaces for resistance amid contemporary obsolescence.
