Emilio García Wehbi
Emilio García Wehbi (b. 1964, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine interdisciplinary artist working across theater, performance, opera, visual arts, and urban interventions. Founder of the influential experimental theater group El Periférico de Objetos in 1989, he is a key figure in Argentina’s contemporary performing arts. His works have been shown in over 20 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. García Wehbi challenges conventional aesthetics through hybrid languages and immersive formats, involving the audience as an active participant. His themes explore crisis, memory, death, the obscene, and instability, fostering provocative and layered experiences.
