André Komatsu
André Komatsu (b. São Paulo, 1978) is one of Brazil’s most internationally recognized contemporary visual artists. His work explores construction processes and the use of urban space, incorporating reclaimed materials from architectural sites and demolitions—stone, cardboard, concrete, or wood. These fragments become the raw material for interventions that highlight social control and transformation embedded in the urban landscape. Komatsu’s practice merges art and architecture through a critical and material lens.
