Ernesto Scotti
Ernesto Scotti (1901–1957) was an Argentine artist trained at the National Academy of Fine Arts. A painter, muralist, set designer, and illustrator, he exhibited at the National Salon from 1925 and held solo shows in Buenos Aires, Madrid, Barcelona, and Venice. He won major awards in Argentina and received the Silver Medal at the 1937 Paris International Exposition. Backed by a national arts grant, he studied in northwestern Argentina and traveled through Europe. He created murals for Argentina’s pavilion at the 1939 San Francisco World's Fair, Salta's Provincial Hotel, and Ezeiza Airport. His figurative work blends expressionist and neocubist elements, characterized by strong linework, bold textures, and dynamic brushstrokes, often exploring landscapes, portraits, nudes, and scenes of labor.
