Leda Catunda
Leda Catunda (São Paulo, 1961) is a Brazilian visual artist known for blending painting, sculpture, and printmaking in works that blur the line between image and object. A key figure of the Geração 80, she is recognized for her "soft paintings" made with fabrics like towels, velvet, or silk. Her hand-crafted works—using painting, collage, silkscreen, and sewing—explore themes of consumerism, affection, and identity. Since the 2000s, she has layered textiles and personal photographs into her pieces. Her exhibitions include I love you baby (2016) at Instituto Tomie Ohtake. Catunda's tactile approach critically engages with visual culture and everyday aesthetics.
