Alex Strada, a New York-based multimedia artist and educator, uses film, installation, sound, performance, and public art to explore themes of collectivity, critical legal studies, and political transformation. She frequently collaborates with scholars, activists, and organizations to create projects that push boundaries and inspire dialogue. Currently, Strada serves as the inaugural Public Artist in Residence with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Her work has been exhibited at prominent venues, including the Queens Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Times Square Arts, and MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. Featured in The New Yorker and The New York Times, Strada’s projects have also been supported by residencies at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and grants from the Graham Foundation, Artadia, and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation.
Holding an MFA from Columbia University and a background in teaching at institutions such as RISD and Pratt Institute, Strada is recognized for her civic engagement and innovative contributions to contemporary art.
