Ivana Vollaro

Ivana Vollaro is a Buenos Aires-based visual artist born in 1971 whose work explores the relationship between language and image, focusing on visual poetry, conceptual art, and mail art. Her artistic practice delves into the boundaries of form, translation, and identity, often incorporating humor and textual experimentation. She works across various media such as artist books, photography, video, installations, performances, and sound art. Vollaro studied Arts and Law at the University of Buenos Aires and trained with artist Mirtha Dermisache. Since the late 1990s, she has participated in international experimental poetry festivals and biennials. For over twenty years, she has been closely connected with Brazil’s contemporary art scene. She received the Fundación Antorchas Creation Grant (2003–2005), worked with Lenora de Barros, and won the Curatorship Award from the Argentine Association of Art Critics (2006). In 2012, she attended the Capacete residency in Rio de Janeiro through the Universidade de Verão program.
