Elaine Shemilt

Elaine Shemilt is a renowned artist and printmaker, pioneering feminist video art. Her work, exhibited globally in London, Switzerland, and the U.S., merges installation and printmaking in an innovative approach. She is a Printmaking Professor at the University of Dundee, where she founded the Printmaking Department in 1988. A member of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Geographical Society, she has received prestigious scholarships, including the Shackleton and Carnegie. Her video art piece "Doppelgänger" (1979) was restored in 2011. She also serves as a trustee for the South Georgia Heritage Trust, advocating for environmental conservation.
