Anna Bella Geiger
Anna Bella Geiger (1933, Rio de Janeiro) is one of the most influential Brazilian contemporary artists. Throughout her career, she has explored themes such as identity, memory, and politics using mediums like painting, photography, video, and sculpture. Her transdisciplinary approach allows her to combine different materials, creating a conceptual unity across her work. Geiger has participated in prestigious exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and the São Paulo Biennale and is known for her investigations into Brazil's multiethnic identity and the representation of indigenous communities, as seen in her piece "Brasil nativo/Brasil alienígena" (1977).
Geiger has been part of major international exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. Her work has become a reference in contemporary art, both in Brazil and internationally.
