Aly Ogasian is a Los Angeles-based interdisciplinary artist whose research-driven practice delves into themes of survival, technology, and nature in a rapidly evolving world. Her recent projects critique contemporary notions of expeditions and employ the metaphor of the island to explore adaptation, community, and the extraterrestrial.
With long-term collaborations alongside Shona Kitchen and Claudia O'Steen, Ogasian has participated in residencies at Rabbit Island and The Arctic Circle. In 2018, she received a NASA Space Grant for a residency at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Her work has been exhibited at the Russian State Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic and Salamanca Arts Center, among others.
She currently teaches as an adjunct professor at Scripps College and is a senior instructor in Intercollegiate Media Studies at The Claremont Consortium.
