Aldair Indra

Aldair Indra, born in La Paz, Bolivia, in 1989, is a prominent visual artist whose work intersects themes of memory, nature, and the cosmos. He studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Sociology at UMSA, complementing his education with training in video, animation, photography, and actionism. Indra’s career milestones include winning second prize in the 2014 ExpresArte competition by AECID with Memorias de la Tierra, a massive 400m² urban intervention. In 2021, he won first place at Fotofest Bolivia. His work has gained international recognition, being selected for the 2023 First Latin American Video Art Encounter (Chile) and becoming a finalist at the Juan Downey International Media and Audiovisual Arts Competition in Santiago, Chile. His works have been exhibited in major art events, including SIART Bolivia (2016, 2018), the Santa Cruz Biennale, the 13th Media Arts Biennale (Chile, 2017), and Proyector Video Art Festival (Madrid, 2021). Indra has participated in exhibitions across the globe, including New York, Madrid, Sicily, Cuenca, and Skien. Notable solo exhibitions include El retorno de los elementos (Santiago, 2017), Oda a los cuerpos celestes (SIART, 2018), Espectro de Marte (SACO8, Antofagasta, 2019), and Lo Espiritual es Político (La Paz, 2021).
