Alejandra González Soca, born in 1973 in Maldonado, Uruguay, is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. She holds advanced degrees in Visual Arts and Psychology, combining her academic expertise with a commitment to exploring the intersections of expanded artistic practices, collective curatorships, and contemporary knowledge creation.
Her works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally at venues such as the National Museum of Visual Arts (MNAV), Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (EAC), and SUBTE in Montevideo, as well as the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the Casa del Risco Museum in Mexico, and the Qorikancha Museum in Cusco. She has participated in major biennials, including BIENALSUR (2023), the Montevideo Biennial (2023), and the International Biennial of Asunción (2017).
In 2019, she created an intervention at the Roman Ruins of São Cucufate, commissioned by the University of Coimbra. Her accolades include multiple awards, such as the Competitive Culture Fund (FCC) and the “Justino Zavala Muniz” Grant. Her residencies include “CAMPO Air” (2022) and the Nancy B. Negley Residency at the Maison Dora Maar (2024).
