Cynthia Zaven

Cynthia Zaven is a renowned composer, pianist, and sound artist based in Beirut. Her work blends music, video, photography, and performance to explore the relationship between sound, memory, and identity. She has exhibited her projects at major biennales and museums worldwide, including the Temple of Bacchus in Baalbeck and the Prix Ars Electronica Award (2017). She has collaborated with Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Modern, and Danapris String Quartet, and in 2015, she received the Ruth Prize at the Rudolstadt Music Festival with the ensemble Eurasians Unity. Her compositions have been featured at top film festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, and Toronto, and her music has been published by Staalplaat in Berlin. In 2023, she won the Best Music award at the Lebanese Movie Awards. She is currently a professor of classical piano at the Higher National Conservatory of Music in Beirut.
