William Forsythe

William Forsythe (b. 1949, New York) is a renowned choreographer and artist who has revolutionized ballet by transforming it into a dynamic form of 21st-century art. Over his career, Forsythe has produced not only choreography but also installations, films, and web-based creations, blending disciplines and contemporary art styles. Forsythe served as the resident choreographer at the Stuttgart Ballet and led the Ballet of Frankfurt from 1984 to 2004. His groundbreaking works, including Artifact, The Loss of Small Detail, and Decreation, are now part of the repertory of major ballet companies such as the New York City Ballet, the Royal Ballet, and the Paris Opera Ballet. In 2005, he formed The Forsythe Company, continuing to shape the global ballet landscape. Forsythe has received prestigious awards, including the Laurence Olivier Award and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale.
