Kader Attia

Kader Attia, born in 1970, is a French artist known for his research on social and cultural repair. His work addresses themes such as violence, collective memory, and loss, exploring the relationship between history, gender, and architecture. In 2016, Attia founded La Colonie in Paris, a space dedicated to active discussion and the decolonization of knowledge. His work has been featured in major biennials such as the Sharjah Biennial, the 57th Venice Biennale, and dOCUMENTA(13), as well as museums like MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and the Guggenheim. Additionally, Kader Attia has had solo exhibitions such as On Silence at MATHAF (Doha) and Remembering the Future at Kunsthaus Zürich. Among his awards are the Marcel Duchamp Prize (2016) and the Miró Foundation Prize (2017). His research on repair, linked to history, art, and culture, has established Attia as a leading figure in contemporary art.
