Luciana Lamothe

Luciana Lamothe (Buenos Aires, 1975) is a visual artist working in sculpture, performance, activation, drawing, photography, and video. Her work explores the softness of materials typically seen as hard, investigating the relationship between hardness and softness. Lamothe introduces the concept of transmateriality, arguing that all materials are soft to varying degrees of perception. Her participatory and site-specific sculptures merge form and function, creating structures that can be activated by the viewer, generating a sensory symbiosis. She has been selected to represent Argentina at the 60th Venice Biennale, and her work has been shown at venues like Art Basel Miami Beach, Palais de Tokyo, and the Museum of the Barrio. Her awards include the First Prize at the Lichter Art Award and the Itaú Cultural Prize. Her work is part of collections at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (MAMBA), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario (Castagnino+MACRO), and the Itaú Cultural Foundation.
