Yoan Capote

Yoan Capote, born in 1977 in Pinar del Río, Cuba, is a visual artist whose works explore human psychology through themes such as emigration, resistance, manipulation, and alienation. A graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Arte and the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, his career has been marked by major international exhibitions, including his participation in the Venice Biennale and Art Basel Unlimited. Known for his paintings made with fishhooks from the La Isla series, which explore deep themes about contemporary humanity, Capote has received prestigious awards and distinctions, such as the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. His work is held in international museum collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Houston.
