Jorge Ribalta

Jorge Ribalta (Spain, 1963) is an artist, photographer, curator, and art historian based in Barcelona. His artistic practice explores documentary photography and the archive as instruments of collective memory and political critique. As a curator and researcher he worked for many years at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), where he developed projects on the history of public photography and the social uses of images. He has edited key publications on photography and the public sphere, including Efecto real and Public Photographic Spaces. His photographic work has been exhibited at European and Latin American institutions, and he has taught and conducted research in the fields of visual studies and contemporary visual culture.
