Peter Friedl

Peter Friedl (Austria, 1960) is an artist based between Berlin and New York. His practice encompasses installation, video, text, and drawing, articulating reflections on politics, representation, and history through rigorous and often minimalist formal gestures. He is known for works that interrogate the conditions of production and circulation of art, as well as the fictions of the state and identity. His work has been presented at MoMA New York, the Museo Reina Sofía, Documenta Kassel, the Venice Biennale, and the Van Abbemuseum, among other institutions. He has published essays and critical texts that form an integral part of his artistic production and has participated in residency and teaching programmes in Europe and the United States.
