Juan Melé
Juan Nicolás Melé (Buenos Aires, 1923–2012) was a prominent Argentine artist and a key member of the Concrete Art-Invention Association. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts and later at the École du Louvre in Paris. His work, rooted in geometric abstraction, was exhibited in Argentina, Europe, and the U.S., including the São Paulo Biennial (1953) and Salon des Réalités Nouvelles. Melé also taught art history and published La vanguardia del ’40. He received the Trabucco Award in 1997. His legacy is essential to Latin American abstract art and the history of Argentine modernism.
