Alfredo Gramajo Gutiérrez was an Argentine costumbrista painter born in Tucumán in 1893 and passed away in Buenos Aires in 1961. He studied at the Sociedad Estímulo de Bellas Artes and the National School of Decorative Arts, obtaining his drawing teacher degree in 1917. He worked at the Central Railway and later dedicated himself to teaching from 1947 onwards.
His work, exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, portrays the culture and traditions of northwestern Argentina. His paintings depict religious ceremonies, festivals, carnivals, and popular markets, reflecting the spirituality and beliefs of provincial communities. Additionally, he illustrated La mulanima and served as a jury member at the National Salon of Fine Arts.
