Marie Orensanz
María Orensanz (Mar del Plata, Argentina, 1936) is a conceptual artist known for linking art, language, and critical thought. She studied with Emilio Pettoruti and Antonio Seguí. In 1972, she added an “e” to her name as a political gesture addressing gender inequality. Since the 1970s, her work has centered on statements such as “Thinking is a revolutionary act,” a key idea from her Eros manifesto (1974). She has exhibited internationally across Europe and Latin America, participating in major institutional shows and public collections. Works such as Limitada (1978) explore identity, the body, and power structures. Her nomadic, multidisciplinary practice engages diverse materials and contexts, positioning her as a key figure in Latin American conceptual art.
