Dana Prieto
Dana Prieto is an Argentine artist and educator based in Toronto, Canada. With a BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University, her work explores themes of migration, belonging, gender, and power through everyday domestic materials such as food, waste, and textiles. Her practice blends installation, performance art, drawing, and printmaking, while also incorporating historically female creative techniques like cooking, sewing, and embroidery.
She has exhibited at major venues, including Sur Gallery, Walnut Contemporary, Trinity Square Video, Xpace Cultural Centre, Blank Canvas, and Harbourfront Centre. Since moving to Canada, she has led numerous collaborative projects at the intersection of art and social activism, working with organizations such as Sketch Working Arts, Neighbourhood Arts Network, and the Feminist Art Gallery. She has also spearheaded award-winning artistic initiatives in communities across Toronto, Halifax, Buenos Aires, Rawson, Quito, and Belize, solidifying her influence in contemporary art and social engagement.
