alfonso borragán

Alfonso Borragán, an artist and educator based in London, combines research, teaching, and production to explore the critical moment of image creation, described as vague momentum. His work investigates non-existent images and latent traces of experience, engaging with superimposition, distortion, and concealment to explore the limits of perception and vision. Borragán’s projects channel irreproducible experiences through devices and situations that transform, interfere with, or expand reality. These symbiotic creations exist and disappear with human interaction, forming part of a relational system in constant flux. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and earned an MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at Emerson Dorsch, Miami (Bucarolito); Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (Alterbees); Kontejner, Zagreb (Daguerrolito); Plataforma Bogotá (Fosfofagia 04); and Khoj Artist Association, New Delhi (Fosfofagia 03). Borragán currently teaches Science and Art at University College London and has lectured at renowned institutions like the Slade School of Fine Art, Camberwell College of Arts, and the University of Barcelona. His multidisciplinary approach involves collaborations with scientists, anthropologists, and geologists, positioning him as a leading figure in experiential and transformative art.
