Yutaka Sone

Yutaka Sone is a contemporary artist born in Shizuoka, Japan, known for his work in sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, video, and performance. He studied at Tokyo Geijutsu University and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. His work explores the tension between realism and perfection, with meticulous attention to detail since the early 1990s. Sone’s sculptures reflect his fascination with landscapes, both natural and architectural, and their ability to capture light connects them with genres associated with painting and photography. His work is housed in prominent international museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Tate Gallery in London, and The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Represented by Tommy Simoens in Antwerp, Sone continues to explore the intersection between sculpture and other visual media.
