Carlos "Pajita" García Bes

Carlos Luis “Pajita” García Bes (Salta, 1914 - 1978) transformed Argentine textile art by depicting indigenous myths and traditions in tapestries. Trained at the National School of Fine Arts and Cárcova, he explored Andean cosmovision in works like La Sol, portraying Pachamama in childbirth. His legacy goes beyond craftsmanship, pioneering conceptual and ethnic art while advocating for ancestral techniques and cultural identity in contemporary art.
