Yolanda Mamani

Yola Mamani is a prominent advocate for women's rights in Bolivia. Arriving in La Paz at the age of nine, Mamani maintained her cholita attire as a symbol of her identity, defying societal pressures to change. Starting work as a domestic worker at a young age, she became involved with the feminist collective Mujeres Creando and their radio school "La voz de mi deseo". Mamani has used her voice and identity to challenge social structures that seek to marginalize indigenous and working women. Her activism and critical stance on the use of traditional clothing have made her a key figure in Bolivia’s feminist movement.
