Aimar Arriola is a curator and researcher specializing in feminism, queer politics, and contemporary art. He was nominated for the Independent Vision Curatorial Award by ICI in New York in 2012 and studied at the Independent Studies Program (PEI) at MACBA and the Curatorlab at Konstfack University in Stockholm.
He has worked at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and curated projects at the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M, Madrid), Moderna Museet (Stockholm), Hangar (Barcelona), and the MEM Festival (Bilbao). His work has been linked to research on art and gender, participating in exhibitions such as Social Danger (PEI/MACBA, 2010) and Art After Feminisms (2008-09). Additionally, he has collaborated on the editing and exhibition of artists such as Itziar Okariz, Azucena Vieites, and Miguel Benlloch.
Currently, he is part of the research platform Equipo re and has developed projects at Museo Reina Sofía, focusing on the relationship between art, AIDS, and aesthetic politics. He is based in the Basque Country, continuing his work in curatorial practice and artistic research.
