BIENALSUR 2019, the second edition of the cultural event of contemporary art of Argentina for the world, adds a new point of its artistic journey in Argentine territory with the inauguration in the province of Mendoza on July 26, after the openings in different venues of Tierra del Fuego, Tucumán, Rosario, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, San Juan and Neuquén. In this way and until November it continues to unfold its unique cartography, with exhibitions of 400 artists in more than one hundred venues - with which it works jointly and collaboratively - in 43 cities in twenty countries.
The International Biennial of Contemporary Art of South America, with the collaboration of the Secretary of Culture of Mendoza and the Photography Space Máximo Arias of Mendoza, and under the auspices of the French Embassy and the Institut français d'Argentine, inaugurates a new chapter of its unique cartography in Argentine territory. On July 26th at this venue, located in Padre Jorge Contreras 1250, "Deviations" will be displayed, with Curaduría BIENALSUR, by Fernando Farina, and unmissable works by the artists Rodrigo Etem (ARG), Esteban Álvarez (ARG), Robert Cahen (FRA), Nicola Costantino (ARG), Arnaud Dezoteux (FRA), Angelika Markul (POL/FRA), Andrés Piña (ARG), Liliana Porter (ARG), Eugenia Puccio (ARG), Inti Pujol (ARG), Paola Sferco (ARG), Lila Siegrist (ARG) and Gabriel Valansi (ARG).
Between registered documentation and fiction, this exhibit places itself in a questioning stance on the contemporary, on the space where the discourse is presented and on the encounter with the other aswell. "Imagination is the last chapter where artists ironize, parody and fantasize to offer other realities, some of which refer critically to situations of daily violence, which disturb us and speak to us of something latent, which we know, permanently, questions us even though we try to ignore it", says curator Fernando Farina.
The exhibition can also be seen at the Museo Provincial de Fotografía Palacio Dionisi in Córdoba and, from 23 July, at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Neuquén.
