BIENALSUR 2019 INAUGURATES IN ARTE X ARTE - ALFONSO AND LUZ CASTILLO FOUNDATION
BIENALSUR 2019, the second edition of the cultural event of contemporary art from Argentina to the world, adds a new point of its unique cartography in the City of Buenos Aires with the inauguration of the associated exhibition "Exquisite corpses. Juan, Eva, Ernesto, America" in Arte X Arte - Alfonso and Luz Castillo Foundation, on July 13 at 3 pm. The biennial continues until November, with exhibitions of 400 artists in more than one hundred venues - with which it works jointly and collaboratively - from 43 cities in twenty countries.
The International Biennial of Contemporary Art of South America opens the exhibition "Exquisite corpses. Juan, Eva, Ernesto, America" in Arte X Arte - Alfonso and Luz Castillo Foundation with works by Argentinean artists Nicola Costantino, Leandro Katz, Daniel Santoro, Daniel Ontiveros, Martín Weber, Graciela Taquini, Noemí Escandell and Lucas Tarturro, curated by Fernando Farina of the BIENALSUR team.
The exhibition investigates necromania: diverse examples of revenge and humiliation after death, such as what happened with the bodies of Evita, Juan Domingo Perón and Ernesto "Che" Guevara, or the indignities suffered by the victims of State Terrorism during the last civil-military dictatorship.
"Exquisite corpses. Juan, Eva, Ernesto, America" focuses on these three "political bodies" but raises the need not to limit ourselves to these cases so own, so Argentinean as the correlates around the world invite us to reflect and they also resonate in these works.
The exhibition, which can be visited in Lavalleja 1062, has the support of the government of the city of Buenos Aires, the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires and the Patronage program of the city.
