BIENALSUR has organized two international open contests for curatorial projects and artistic proposals with a view to encouraging artists to conceive projects that could not be conducted outside the exceptional setting of a biennial. In this regard, those proposals that intervene/interfere non-conventional sites, public urban spaces, etc. will be strongly supported in order to build visual reference networks that turn the Biennial into a milestone that signals the territory beyond specific exhibition halls. Both open calls have been closed September 30th.
We have received 2,543 projects from 78 different countries.
Artists and curators from these countries responded to the open call:
Germany, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bolivia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Colombia, Congo, South Korea , Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, the United Arab Emirates, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the United States, Estonia, the Philippines, Finland, France, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Iran, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, the Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Suriname, Thailand, Taiwan, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, Uganda, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam.
